It's that time of the year when a variety of things are falling from trees and either drifting, or simply just plopping, on to the water.
The cottonwood fluff has been falling for sometime, and there have been good numbers of fish paying attention to it. The occasional fish can be found clooping cottonwood out in the open, but for the most part, fish are taking advantage of the locations where the cottonwood collects in downed trees.
It's also berry season. The fish are just starting to notice that the berries are getting ripe, and the next week or two should be great. But even fish that are hanging high in trees have been turning and eating berries, so now is a great time to target fish on top. The first fish pictured here was Jeff's first carp on the fly, and it came on top!
And of course, there are plenty of fish to be had up in nosing into the bank, marauding in and out of vegetation, and tailing on silt ledges. The fishing is good!
